Duncan McFarlane - Independent candidate in Lanark and Hamilton East, General Election 2010

Duncan McFarlane - Independent candidate - Lanark and Hamilton East Constituency

DuncanMcFarlane2.JPG

If elected I will represent no political party, no big company, no billionaire who donates to party funds. I will only represent you and my own principles. I won’t claim unjustified expenses, or accept money from companies. I want to make banks pay the same interest on the bail-out money that they charge to customers for loans - 13.9% - and use that money to compensate people who lost most of their pensions in the credit crisis. I want to make it a criminal offence for MPs to accept money other than their salaries and solely justified expenses (i.e work-related ones). Other than a few decent candidates and MPs votes for the big parties are wasted votes for more of the same.

On the links below you can find out more about me, why i'm standing as an independent, why votes for indepenents aren't wasted votes and about my policies on every issue

My Policies by Policy Area

Local Issues Raised by residents during canvassing in 2010 election

Local Transport, Roads, Rail, Road Safety and Pavements

If you have any other local issues you want brought up then contact me (see under heading 'Contact Me' below for contact details). I'll list them on my website without naming the people making the complaint and without their address given. If I am elected I'll bring these issues up with them as MP for the area until they are resolved to everyone's satisfaction. If I'm not elected i'll forward them all to South Lanarkshire council and local newspapers after the election.

While many police do a great job in difficult circumstances some don't. You can make a complaint to Strathclyde Police about those who don't do their job or commit offences themselves - and if Strathclyde Police fail to help you can go to the Police Complaints Commissioner for Scotland. I'll do everything I can to help with complaints against officers whose behaviour is out of order.

Campaign leaflets and posters

In case anyone who's decided to vote for me wants to help the campaign by downloading and printing leaflets to hand out or posters to put in their car or house windows i'll be uploading some to the links below

leaflet (word 2007) or leaflet (adobe reader 9) ; (if you don't have adobe reader 9 you can download it free at the adobe website www.adobe.com

Poster (word 2007 doc) or Poster (adobe reader 9 pdf) ; (if you don't have adobe reader 9 you can download it free at the adobe website www.adobe.com

Contact Me with policy suggestions or questions or local or national issues

You can contact me by email at calgacus86@hotmail.com or dmcf@calgacus17.plus.com or by text or mobile on 07774121818 or by post to Duncan M McFarlane, Beanshields Farm, Braidwood, Carluke, ML8 5PG.

I will read or listen to any policy suggestions and if i'm persuaded they'd be a good policy I'll add them to my website with a line saying who suggested them (unless the person making the suggestion doesn't want to be named.

I'll also explain and discuss any of my existing policies and would be glad of any help in spreading the word about my campaign

I'm trying to get round as many houses as possible to talk to people about their problems and issues, but unfortunately I don't have enough people to canvas the whole constituency before the election (I'm regretting not canvassing before the election was called too now.) Also some people aren't in or are busy when i come round, so please don't hesitate to contact me by email, text, post or phone.
